Leibold McClendon & Mann’s attorneys work closely with city election officials on election law matters, including preparation of ballot titles, summaries and analyses of city sponsored and resident sponsored initiatives and referendums. The firm also advises clients concerning compliance with the Voting Rights Act, including districting issues and the Political Reform Act. The firm was recently called upon to defend the City of Lake Elsinore when a developer sought to have a "Development Agreement" imposed on the city by way of a voter approved local initiative. The proposed initiative was subsequently revised, resubmitted and then ultimately abandoned by the developer and the lawsuit dismissed.
